1960s Inspired Gown

This gown had me feeling all sorts of 1960s Kennedy meeting dignitaries. 🎀

the Staud ilana dress

After my husband and I were invited to a formal function for his work, I had to act fast to get a gown to Astana. I was certain that I did not want to wear a strapless bra. My mind went immediately to a Staud dress I spotted earlier in the season. Though I understand it does not sound great, I love the tent-like silhouette. With a stand up tie-back neck, featuring a huge bow and pockets, I knew I wanted to wear the dress to the event.

I initially ordered the Staud Ilana dress in a size large from Matchesfashion. Unfortunately, it was a touch too fitted in the arms and too short for my taste. (Though admittedly, it seems like the shorter length is the intended style.) I immediately ordered the extra large from the brand directly, as it was the only place online the extra large was available.

While the extra large fit in the arms and the shoulders, even the size extra large was too short. Luckily the hem was especially deep, eight centimeters to be exact. The local tailor was able to take out the dress in the amount of half of the hem.
