J.Crew is killing the shoe game right now. I was obsessed with the heels that were released for holiday and this season…same. I mean, look at those colors! Every shade one could possibly want. Every style one could possibly want from a driving loafer to the highest of block heels. I don’t know about anyone else, but I am ready to take my height from a modest 6′-2″ (ha!) to a statuesque 6′-5″ in the studded suede stilts.
Yes, I absolutely need both of these pairs in my closet like, yesterday. This style is a J.Crew staple and the very style that I already have in green velvet (seen here and here and here and here and here). When I bought the green velvet heel, I bought it in both my typical size and a half size up. I can confirm that going up a size is the move.
While I am no stranger to a skyscraper heel despite my height, I have a special place in my heart for a flat. If it is it wrong to want to pull a 2004 and pair these with a pair of distressed faded bootcut jean and a loose watercolor print tank top, then I don’t want to be right. Pointed toe shoes should never be worn with a skinny jean and flats should never be worn with wide leg jeans. Bootcut is the answer and every time I read that they are coming back in style, my heart gets so happy.
These loafers have Blair Waldorf season one, the spring episodes, written all over them. I would wear these with a dress to church. Modest, but with enough lift to make my feet appear smaller and make the ideal proportions of an above-the-knee length dress or skirt. If the above periwinkle or salmon shades are not appealing, there are several other colors available, including a dreamy-mcdreamy shade of wine, rich forest, and 1970s mustard.
I have been awaiting the return of the J.Crew driving moccasin ever since I passed on buying the 2008 iteration. I am going to break out my J.Crew acid bright and pastel corduroys and cable knit sweaters to really round out the preppy hat trick. If only J.Crew would reissue the 36 inch inseam matchstick and bootcut cords and the Cambridge Cable Collection, they would round out the trifecta and forever win me over.
I wore my first pair of Colette d’orsay heels for engagement photos about two and a half years ago (seen here). I bought the slingback version (seen here and here and here). As far as sizing goes, I can speak to both fitting true to size. I am very happy to declare that I was able to walk around the cobblestone streets of Georgetown for three hours in the d’orsay version and only started to feel it and consequently complain towards the end. Where is my trophy!?
