Welcome to another installment of my spring capsule wardrobe series, again featuring the Toteme scarf coat. This time, I paired it with…more Toteme (the sweater, you know it!) and the only J.Crew skirt you need.
the toteme wool scarf neck jacket
I hemmed and hawed over purchasing this coat in the black iteration for about four months. I considered buying it along with the striped roll neck sweater, here layered beneath the jacket. I considered buying it in the fawn iteration, though I have a bolder hue in a cape version, not too mention this one just looked a little too Vanilla Girl TikTok.
The pearly gray colorway popped onto my radar. Unfortunately, it was unavailable on my go-to luxury etailer, Matches Fashion. Cut to cheating on Matches and running over to Moda Operandi where there was exactly one left in my desired hue and size.
Ordered.
Admittedly it is an expensive piece. So much so that the past decade version of me probably could never have imagined spending this on clothing. These days, I spend on quality. And as it is majority wool, it looks and feels as expensive in person. The jacket is toastier than I imagined while I was percolating on the decision whether to order.
Size-wise, I am wearing a EU 40, which I understand is the US equivalent to a twelve. It is roomy enough to layer over sweatshirts or sweaters without being too baggy or feeling too bulky.
