Can you think of anything preppier through a 1980s lens than a white bow blouse? Tell me it does not look like something Leslie would wear to get blotto at St. Elmo’s circa 1985.
I stumbled upon the first white bow blouse a few weeks ago and being out of my budget at over 300 dollars, bookmarked it to stalk for a sale. It is one hundred percent cotton. The blouse is secured by a back zip closure which brings me to my favorite part of the blouse: the lack of the button front.
Button down shirts tend to gape at the bust on me; I solve this with double sided styling tape though I wish this weren’t an issue at all. I could do away with the issue by avoiding buttons altogether. When juggling preparing for a day at the office and getting the littles ready for preschool or daycare, I prefer forgoing styling tape and a button placket in favor of a quick zip up the back. Wouldn’t you?
The second bow blouse is 98 percent cotton and two percent spandex. While this has said front buttons, I was still taken with the big bow, the puff shoulders, and the balloon sleeves. Not to mention the price! At thirty percent off (on promotion with code TAKE30 at the time of writing this post) of 135 dollars, the cost is certainly more palatable than the other.
