Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice

I only watched parts of it on cable, but Beetlejuice scared the complete shit out of me when I was a kid. The shrunken head character, the worms, and the bowl creatures at the end of the Banana Boat musical number scene, I just could not handle viewing it in its entirety.

As with other Tim Burton movies, I long ago resigned to the fact that I would go through life without watching the iconic 1980s classic. Recently, I brought my oldest son to the movie theatre for a matinee viewing of Garfield. It was his first time in a dark theatre and probably a little scary for him. I tensed when it occured to me that we were getting hit with a Beetlejuice II preview. Thank goodness it was a brief thirty second spot sans creatures, appropriate for the same audience as the Garfield crowd.

the rodarte beetlejuice ii collection

Just in time for autumn and spooky season, Rodarte released a Beetlejuice II collection with Saks, whomst also has a Beetlejuice-themed shop via the website. It is quite pricey ($195 for a cotton tee shirt of which there are two variations through Saks and through the Rodarte website, but still yeesh), but I will give the brand that there is nary a synthetic fiber to be found with the exception of the entirely sequined gown. The remaining dresses are one hundred percent silk. (Are you taking notes, Wickstead?)

I think the most wearable option is the black and white bias stripe slip dress, layered with a solid cashmere sweater tied around the waist and a leopard print heel.

Can you just imagine the burgundy or the sequin checkerboard dresses for an autumn into winter wedding?

With that, I will never mention wedding dressing on the blog again.
