No more ordering Emilia Wickstead dresses for the summer, promise!
the emilia wickstead ariadne dress
This Emilia Wickstead Ariadne Dress is going to round out my collection of three frocks from the British label. First, the brand is quite pricey and to buy one dress a week in the manner that some people shop fast fashion just does not make financial sense, I’m assuming for most people. I was particularly discerning about the dresses I ordered and only started to be serious about procuring them once the prices dipped below sixty percent off.
Second, Emilia Wickstead (the brand, not the person) is notorious for producing articles of clothing of the polyester variety and charging an arm and a leg. I can rationalize the sale price for some of the cotton, or more natural fiber (I see you, silk), articles of clothing. I absolutely will not spend upwards of two thousand dollars on dress of the finest materials and craftsmanship for everyday wear, let alone a dress made of synthetic fabric even if you could tell me about the tailor who personally sewn the dress. This is to say that the selection of sale dresses that I was considering shopping narrowed even more to those made of cotton.
I have a pink floral print Stepford Wife-esque dress and a red coral print swingy dress, the latter of which could be worn to the office and I have actually also worn to job interviews. There was a blue floral dress-sized hole in my closet. I favored the light blue / navy blue color combination, as opposed to the other blue-based color story prints (blue / green, blue / yellow, both of which are currently available colorways) as released by the brand. The Ariadne Dress features pleating detail that the Mona Dress (my pink floral one as procured from Matches Fashion RIP, updated pink colorway here) does not. It is the same size as my Mona Dress, but feels like it offers more upper deck coverage.
