Emilia Wickstead Mini Caftan

I switched up my go-to job interview ensemble and went with something swingy.

Earlier this summer, I was considering jumping from the company I had worked for, for over a decade. After unsuccessfully interviewing for two roles, I had the urge to change my sartorial feng shui for the interview occasion. I decided to do away with the J.Crew navy blue lightweight wool sleeveless pleated dress, which to be honest, I have not felt my most confident in post-second baby.

Rather, I opted to order a swingy, knee grazing mini caftan when MyTheresa stacked an added promotion to a marked down Emilia Wickstead number. “Mini” is in relation to the style of a caftan, because even on my six foot two inch tall statue, the length is still rather conservative. “Caftan” is in relation to the British brand beloved by the royal family and stick-up-their-a’s-preppies alike. I love the style for the roomy trapeze dress fit, slash pockets, and fun coral print. It was the best dress to wear to an interview, on a ninety degree summer day.

I am wearing a Banana Republic Factory Store True Hues slip beneath the dress. Due to the light shade of the dress, I layered in the slip to avoid undergarment exposure. While I am wearing my Hermès Oran sandals in this post and on the walk from Drybar to the office, I swapped the comfortable staple shoe out for my nude Sarah Flint 85 Perfect Pumps.

As for the job interview? I decided the opportunity was not for me after I was assigned “homework” that would require me to provide information that could be construed as a conflict of interest. In the words of a long time mentor, you are interviewing the employer, too!

With that, to the next ten years?
