I am following Petite Garcon’s lead, and sporting a rugby shirt.
the old navy rugby shirt
First off, let’s acknowledge that I have never found a rugby shirt available in a tall size range. And people, I have been on the lookout since about 1999. So it should come as no surprise when I initially jumped at this shirt in the green and white stripe color way. The light blue, navy blue option had sold out at the point of discovery; however as always, after a little light stalking, I was able to source (ha!) my size in the most coveted color way .
The Old Navy Rugby shirt runs large. I am wearing this shirt in a medium tall.
the j.crew slip skirt
J.Crew has been shoving the slip skirt silhouette down our throats for over a year now. After putting up resistance, I bought the navy blue one for the sole purpose of pairing it with the rugby dress, in a practice of style contrasts. The length of the skirt I selected was specific; I knew I wanted to wear it with flats, the Sarah Flint Natalie in particular, and as such, knew that the skirt had to hit above the knee. Proportions, you know?
Who knew that this skirt was an elastic waist? I did not, though I suspected as much. Have you ever assumed a skirt had an elastic waist, not to be addressed in the item description, only for it to arrive with a static side zipper and hook and eye? It is a slap in the sartorial face.
I am wearing this skirt in a extra large tall.
