What to wear when you have a con call with the east coast at 6 pm local…
the Agolde Denim Shorts
I discovered the best denim cutoff short for the tall gal. The AGOLDE Parker Short comes in a long option and when I tell you it is ideal for the six foot, two inch frame, I am not kidding.
The brand AGOLDE might feel familiar because it sounds like Adriano Goldschmied. Goldschmied could be credited with leading the premium denim boom of the 2000s. He was the genius behind AG Denim, Diesel, the 1969 Gap line, and more. Like past brands, his latest project, AGOLDE, is based in Los Angeles. This ostensibly is part of the price driver behind the shorts, but believe me when I tell you that the AGOLDE Parker Long Short is worth the price tag.
Also believe me when I say that I will be on the lookout this weekend for Memorial Day sales on the AGOLDE Parker Long Short in washes other than the Skywave wash that I already own. Size-wise, you have to look in the mirror and get really real about your size. This is not the time to be optimistic. I went with a size 34 because I knew the denim for the wash I wanted did not have stretch and my Kazakhstan sedentary lifestyle has compounded with a winter weight gain. The result? A pair of shorts that fit right now and make me feel fantastic.
the J.Crew Dalton Blazer
I was shocked and most pleasantly surprised to see that J.Crew is back in the prep game. After a solid half decade of carrying minimalist, one button, and boyfriend blazers, the brand is going back to its roots with the J.Crew Dalton Blazer. It has been a long time coming, at least since early 2016, when I realized the brand was moving away from its heritage aesthetic. It was a look with which I fell in love. From that moment, my J.Crew covet list grew smaller and smaller and my gripes as aired day-drunkenly on Twitter, more and more frequent.
Though I have not seen the Schoolboy Blazer offered since 2014, I retained four of the colorways that I purchased back then. (Sorry, the Cherry Red just had to go.) The J.Crew Dalton Blazer is a reincarnation of the Schoolboy Blazer; I have not been able to discern any differences between the two styles. It is single breasted with anchor detail brass buttons, functional buttons at wrists, back vent, and a contrast flip collar in some colorways. In the words of SNL’s Stefan, this blazer has it all.
The J.Crew Dalton Blazer is available in three colorways in the cotton / Irish linen mix. It is available in two colorways in the Italian stretch wool mix. Would you like to know the best part? It is available in sizes 2 through 20 in the tall range. It is available in petite and standards ranges as well. A size for lots of bodies, who does not love that?
