Tory Burch Lace Caftan

An eyelet caftan just screams “summer.”

This caftan (last seen here) is quite the crowd pleaser. It constantly yields compliments. Though it is dressy for daytime shopping, dressing up is getting me through what I hope to be the tail end of the pandemic. Just putting together an outfit makes me feel alive.

I admittedly do not wear my nice pieces enough. Part of it comes from leading a toddler through life and therefore having reservations about sporting my stuff. Riffing off of that, I have reservations about finding a capable dry cleaner abroad; I loved my old neighborhood go-to, Penn Cleaners. From 2010 to 2020, he was my go-to guy for my dry cleaning and tailor needs and even reconstructing a vintage Lilly shift that was way too large for me.

I digress.

I should wear this caftan more often. It fits and it makes me feel especially fab. If I dirty it, well, that is a sign of a life lived.

Mignon Faget is a southern icon. Her jewelry brand is synonymous with quality and timelessness. Being gifted a piece is initially indicated by a midnight blue and white box tied with a matching ribbon which inevitably leads to the recipient gleefully ripping through the wrap and the signature blue jewelry pouch.

As recounted on numerous occasions on Lucindervention, I was introduced to the brand when a necklace and pendant set was loaned to me by a sorority sister. Though she did not give it a second thought, I barely relaxed as I was terrified of losing the jewelry. Spoiler alert: I did not. I did, however, consequently acquire my own Mignon Faget jewelry as future Christmas and birthday gifts.

Several pieces of jewelry, wedding cake pulls, and glassware later… Not only are Mignon Faget accessories my staple, but I love to share the brand with others and collect the home goods. I recently uncovered a stash of the signature blue jewelry pouches and rather than being alarmed, I became excited at the prospect of passing on the heritage pieces to future daughters.

The Banana Leaf collection, which I wore last weekend, is one of the brand’s newer collections. Like many of her designs, Mignon Faget took a cue from local flora and fauna as banana trees are prevalent in Louisiana. This particular collection is delightful, as the earrings are relatively light on the earlobes and the cuff, which is relatively new to the collection, has enough flexibility to adjust around nearly any wrist.

I have always worn designs in the sterling silver metal; though striking, the gold metal is simply out of my budget. Enter the e-coated bronze finish. Bronze was introduced last year as part of the Hive collection and consequently expanded to others: Banana LeafKnots and BowsMardi GrasRenaissance, and Sea. It makes the warm finish more accessible to all budgets and also presents the option to mix metals, either by sporting two pieces of jewelry in contrasting tones or by wearing a piece that incorporates both bronze and sterling silver.
