I have worn both this sweater and this dress in many different combinations. This is the first time wearing them together, though. An inspired match, amirite?
the Ralph Lauren southwestern sweater
Around the beginning of the pandemic, something in me clicked and I got really into southwestern motifs on my clothing. This sweater is a Q3 2020 acquisition from that late summer. I managed to score it on markdown, as I do most of my clothing from the brand. Since then it has made a couple blog appearances and beyond that, more appearances IRL.
I order my Ralph Lauren sweaters in a size large. The large is roomy enough to layer over dresses and knits, and the large end of the size range works for the extra length in the sleeves.
the Loveshackfancy majory dress
This dress nearly sold out immediately in the online store as well as all of the online stockists. It was a total trophy dress of Q3 2021. The fabric content is great (no synthetic!), it has pockets (for all your dad issues), and the pintucking detail through the bodice is fantastic. However, in addition to the side zipper, the bodice has button closure up the front center. Gaping buttons plague my lewks. My husband chimed in with an idea a few weeks ago: Have a tailor sew the front shut and use the zipper as the means of dress closure. Genius!
I bought this dress in a size 12. I lamented that it might be too small, prior to the tailor sewing up the front. Now, a perfect fit!
