I went on a bender this week.
I ordered a black cashmere sweater from Lands’ End. I already have the crewneck version in ivory and it served me well, particularly during our spring trip to the states earlier in the year. It was on sale with code CAPE last week, though I believe it is rarely not on sale. I also bought a 100% lambswool fair isle sweater via Brooks Brothers, as it was on promo and again lambswool, not acrylic or some other synthetic blend bs.
A reversible long torso Marysia suit I spied at the middle of the summer season is now on sale for over sixty percent off which tempered the full price splurge of the reversable pre-sale suit in the cutest shell print and seafoam green. Marysia has fantastic customer service, it is a woman-owned brand, they serve my size range, and one of the suits is marked down.
I have been enjoying cold weather runs lately; however that requires washing my two pairs of running tights on a daily basis. As I decided to run a half marathon at the end of April, I stocked up on some running tights and sports bras, as well as a pair of studio leggings from the We Made Too Much section of Lululemon. I always thought one cannot put a price tag on the endorphins one gets from a workout. Alas, Lululemon has.
After checking the site several times a day, bookmarked on my desktop and my phone, a pair of the bootcut wide wale corduroys at Banana Republic Factory Store at long last became available in my size. You may remember that I bought the rust colorway in a 10 tall several weeks ago; unfortunately, I had to return them because they were too small in the waist. The black colorway became available in a 12 tall and I jumped at ordering the pair. The black colorway has since sold out in my size and I tracked that it finally shipped. I am still keeping an eye out for the rust in a 12 tall.
A pair of Bea Bongiasca earrings appeared back in stock at Shopbop for a marked down price. Even thought I love collecting pieces from her You’re So Vine collection, I have never purchased them for full price. When I saw the teal / emerald colorway which had been out of stock for weeks, marked down no less, I hit order.
I splurged again on Smythe outerwear; this time the yellow mohair blanket coat. The brand site sold out of the particular coat in medium and tall, so I have been looking at stockists for it. Nordstrom is great with returns, so I know any buyer’s remorse will be a nonissue.
Lastly, I bought several items from the Banana Republic holiday rollout. I was pleased with not only the rollout, but also 40 percent off holiday preview promotion and how much was available in tall. Whoever is in charge of Women’s at the storied brand is kicking ass.
The tartan silk skirt from Ralph Lauren arrived and it is good; it is well worth the full price. It is clearly silk georgette and not some bastardized blend of poly. I have big plans to wear the skirt for our family’s holiday brunch this year. I could have gone down a size as the only closure on the wrap style is a tie, rather than a tie and button combination. The upside is that the skirt can accommodate holiday weight gain and subsequently, new year weight loss.
