Crimson + Lilac Redux

This is the second time wearing a red and lavender color combination in the past year, and an uncountable time I wore these pants. Just kidding. This is only the third time I wore these pants on the blog this year.

the Milly New York blouse

I think this blouse was released sometime between 2006 and 2009, and definitely before Michelle Smith sold the brand she founded with her now ex husband, to Chinese investors. This blouse was a ThredUp score from the pre-modern rebrand iteration of the contemporary label, Milly New York. Back then Milly had a ladylike, lady-who-lunches, 5th Avenue dweller aesthetic. In other words, aspirational to the highest degree.

Initially I ordered this blouse in cream, also on the secondary market. I wore that blouse so damn much that I snapped up the red version as soon as I saw it was available. Good thing because I wore the cream version enough that, embarrassingly but we are all friends here, the armpits became discolored over the course of half a decade. That cream blouse just went with everything and I wore it with everything.

The red is a bit trickier to match with other pieces, primarily because I hate wearing red with black and this silk fabric doesn’t look its best with blue denim. As such, I ran the opposite way and power clashed the red blouse with lilac-hued pants.

the J.Crew cropped boot pants

These are my favorite pair of denim. Not only do I own them in three shades of blue, but I also have them in white, as well as this lilac shade.

I have said it before but it bears repeating. I am a massive fan of iconoclastic color combinations, and the lilac and red is no exception. In fact, there are not many colors that these lilac pants do not compliment.

I am wearing these in a 31 tall, though I have found that sizing of this style varies wildly. Proceed with caution when it comes to a final sale situation.
