Fewer + Better (86/365)

I bought a La Vie Style House knee length caftan. There was (still is!) an ongoing 25 percent off Friends and Family sale at Saks Fifth Avenue, for some inexplicable reason I got a stackable ten percent off coupon and free shipping.

The caftan already arrived and sadly, it is going back. There are two reasons for this:

  • The sequin fabric is especially delicate. As I pulled the caftan out of the box, the fabric was caught on itself in several places. Perhaps I could have reasoned this away prior to becoming a parent. However, with the Pamper Pirate in tow, I wear my clothes harder.
  • This caftan is marketed as “knee length” per the item description. Aside from the longer length, the only other option was previously mini. I was thrilled to be able to try another La Vie Style caftan length! However, this caftan was quite mini as well. I absolutely have no chance at maintaining decency while chasing around the Pamper Pirate in this caftan.

This J.Crew dress arrived from the order last week. I bought it with the last of my J.Crew credit, otherwise I would have probably returned it. I am just not that into the dress but I would rather not fuss with the credit any longer.

reflecting on Q1 purchases

Some of these purchases were more necessary than others, having moved back stateside armed with only a capsule wardrobe, workout clothing, and associated shoes.

What have I already worn? The bright citrus yellow sweatshirt has been worn weekly either out and about and/or to/fro Barry’s classes. As much as I wore the sweatshirt, I also wear the Nike sneakers. I wear these, again, out and about and/or to/fro Barry’s classes. When I am not wearing them to work out in, I pair the sneakers with the Hue slouchy socks. The Keith Haring tee and sweatshirt (both from Abercrombie & Fitch) are great for wearing around the home or for running errands with the Pamper Pirate in tow. Lastly, I have been obsessed with the grey Toteme scarf coat. It is a great layer, and provides warmth somewhere in between my Canada Goose puffer and my Banana Republic trench coat. The latter of which I wore minimally. It is just too cold for a trench right now.

Any regrets? Maybe the super long J.Crew denim. I should have liked them more as they have a 37 inch inseam and I think it is because they should fit me slouchier. Perhaps I should have gone up a size. They just don’t turn my crank the way the J.Crew demi bootcut crop denim does.
