My Urban Garden III

My husband, littlest one, and I headed out to Linvilla Orchards to pick out flowers, seeds, and soil for our urban garden project. I did copious research about optimum pest-repellent species for a shaded area.

It turns out I did not need to go down the plant research rabbit hole, as the nursery at Linvilla Orchards keeps shade loving plants under shaded areas. Genius!

I picked out Citronella, Jacob’s Ladder, and a colorful variety of both Geraniums and Impatiens. We also picked up some seeds: mesclun lettuce, Zinnias, Alyssum, and a Shade Garden Mix..

I mapped out how I plan to plant the pre-sprouted flowers and plants. The beauty of the pair of vertical planters I procured for the backyard is that each individual planter can be moved around the frame to allow for different exposures of sunlight.

I think I am going to plant the Alyssum and Shade Garden Mix in the planter attached to the trellis, along with another trellis-climbing and shade-loving plant. TBD.
