Lilly Pulitzer Skort Story

Wearing a skort is a callback to childhood, no?

Now go nucking futs on the jungle gym!

The skort is the unsung hero of summertime articles of clothing. I love the look of a skirt with the functionality and coverage of shorts.

I bought this skort during the early spring days of the pandemic. Lilly Pulitzer released promotional pricing in the form of a Surprise Sale around that very particular moment in time when every retailer started getting really nervous about what the effects of the pandemic was going to mean.

Bankruptcies abound.

Sales abound.

Online orders abound.

While I typically defer to wearing exclusively vintage when it comes to the Lilly Pulitzer brand, I could not resist this skort. It is that wonderful micro corded fabric, mostly free of synthetic fibers. There is a back zip closure secured with a hook and eye. My favorite part is the asymmetrical crochet trim down the front which kicks out to a mini pleat, both of which are total callbacks to skirts and skorts of the vintage variety. I like the appearance of a skirt with a built in short, as I am frequently chasing around a four year old, infant in tow. Rather than the skirt wrapping around the back to form exposed shorts, the shorts are completely built in beneath a skirt, in a breathable white cotton. The sheer ability of cutting down on chafing is what does it for me.

I am wearing this skort in a size 14.

After the photos and outfit credits, more skorts available on the market right this moment.
