Cropped trench coats are coming in hot this spring. Call it the new barn jacket.
I especially appreciate the cropped length these days, as I don’t feel like having an extra layer around my bottom. I like the proportions with everything from a cropped, slim lightweight wool pants, a pair of jeans, or my go-to skirt hemline these days, a knee-length.
Minutes after we left the house, I had to grab the baby out of the car. He had some car-triggered spit up on his fleece outdoor suit. This rubbed onto my coat, leaving a white mark. However I was impressed with the treatment of the fabric, as the spit up lifted with some water.

The Sam was the first handbag developed by then-accessories editor, Kate Brosnahan, of the now-defunct heritage periodical geared to the stylish woman. The bag was an instant hit. Subsequent styles hit it out of the park, namely a diaper bag that found a fan in the Material Girl, Madonna, herself.
At the end of the millennium, Neiman Marcus purchased a majority stake in the handbag company for over thirty million dollars; the department store would later buy the remaining stake in the brand in the aughts.
I always resisted the siren song of a fake Kate Spade bag. However circa 2018, I found myself with a Macy’s gift card burning a hole in my pocket. The department store carried the then-newly reissued iconic Sam and with that, the OG style found a home alternatively on my arm and in my closet.
