Make no mistake, the San Fransisco map print sold me on the dress.
the banana republic matte silk cowl neck shift dress
I have never gotten so many compliments on a dress, as I did this one. To be fair, I do not think it was the style that was really doin’ it for everyone, rather it was the map print that the dress (and many others in the rollout) feature. Only when I was in the car of my business partner zipping from a gallery on Walnut Street to the Philadelphia Museum of Art, did I spot San Miguel Hills and theorize that the map is actually of San Fransisco, birthplace of Banana Republic and current headquarters of parent company Gap Inc.
This dress comes in two prints/colorways, and I can say that this print is what sold me on the dress. So much so that I felt a teensy bit of buyers remorse when I saw and alternate cut in the same print. However, I will say this: the dress I wound up with has a self tie that is attached to the dress. It is attached in a way that does not necessary make sense to me, as it is off center. But the upside is that this dress will fit as I am moving through different sizes, whereas the other dress in this print would not be as accommodating.
I like the cowl collar, though the bias cut allows it to inexplicably hang longer in the front.
the ferragamo vera heels
I initially spotted these Ferragamo heels over holiday on the company’s website. While I like the bone shade, I was taken specifically with the embossed croc finish. So much so that I was disappointed when the finish disappeared from the site. They seemed to be stocked across all sizes and then, zero sizes. Cut to not being able to forget about the shoes and I Googled them, to be found at Net-a-Porter, and marked down no less. I ordered them in my typical size and – rejoice – they fit!
I am wearing these heels in a size 11.5.
