For the past three weeks, I have been mixing in a second bit of exercise into my day. I would not call it a workout, as that term is reserved for sweat sessions exceeding thirty minutes.
Allow me to explain. As I mentioned a few weeks ago, I started the Nike Run Club at the shortest possible run: one minute. With every run, I stepped up the duration of the run: two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine minutes and beyond. Since the three minute run, I have been waking up my older son, who is always excited the night before to go for a jog. Understandably he changes his tune come 5:45 am; nevertheless he always eventually wakes up.
Moving in the morning has the potential to start one’s day on the best foot possible; since I have started this ritual, I recognize feeling so much better throughout my day. I find that my older son also has much less of an attitude, and is generally more affable in the mornings. That is enough for me to establish a routine.
