Whatever fits.
the banana republic eliana silk-cotton dress
This dress is not particularly flattering, but this is not about looks. This dress is about comfort.
Last year, I fell in love with this dress but upon first order, I was not particularly impressed. I hoped it would fit more flattering on me. At the full price, back the dress to Banana Republic went.
The dress would eventually go on price reduction. Whether it was on temporary promotion or permanent markdown, I do not recall but that was my trigger to buy it. I just loved this pale shade of blue and the style; it reminded me of something straight out of a 1980s yuppie closet and I love the 1980s. The fact that it is a cotton / silk blend, as opposed to a synthetic fabric, was the clincher. Even if it did not fit me the way I wished, it still offers copious comfort. It is just really easy to wear for hours on end, sitting behind a computer.
I am wearing this dress in a size medium tall.
the j.crew heels
I used to wear these heels more often in springs and summers past. The block heel was supportive and made the shoes so much more comfortable than the stiletto counterparts. My opinion on them has changed as of late.
Full candor, these are not the most comfortable pair of heels, particularly after I started to regularly wear Manolo Blahnik heels and flats. There is a definitive delta in terms of comfort between a two hundred dollar and an eight hundred shoe, even if I did not pay full price for either. It would not be a huge deal if I was not living in the city and did not typically traverse the city on foot. I certainly would never wear these if I was solo with the kids. In that case, at most, I could handle a 50 mm block heel.
I am wearing these shoes in a size ten.
