With the 130th anniversary of the Louis Vuitton monogram, comes a reissue of several monogram schemes: Monogram Origine (in five different colorways), Takashi Murakami’s collaboration, VVN & Time Trunk (whatever that is), and the Monogram with which everyone is familiar.
The majority of the 130th anniversary is nothing to write home about; however If you missed last year’s Murakami reissue, this is your moment. Let’s be honest, those pieces were coveted and consequently sold out. The virtual line from the March 14th rivaled that from early aughts Lilly Pulitzer #resort365 sale, albeit with higher stakes. And I was in that line, just hoping to blow some money on the East-West bag that I felt was most emblematic to the original Y2K collection.
This most recent rollout has some of the same shapes as the last round – looking at you Temu Alma and SHEIN Speedy – but it also has a few new styles. The larger Alma Travel is a home run, in that the front and center hardware and pocket detailing are similar to its 2003 predecessor and the size is a callback to the now-iconic silver and gold Monogram Mirior Alma bags that Kim K and Paris toted on their trip around down under.
Sidebar: I cannot find the source right now, but wasn’t Kim Kardashian (relatively) recently quoted as claiming that Paris Hilton’s Monogram Mirior Alma was a wreck on the inside? Did I just imagine that?
As with that Alma, the Keepall Bandoulière 45 is true to its 2003 roots; it is another style originally carried by Paris. Though, not as delicious as the initial East West bag, the version from this year is enough to consider grabbing a method of payment.
