I bought this caftan to wear for a coastal wedding three summers ago. I knew that it could be elevated for the occasion with the right shoes and accessories and then I could go on to incorporate it in my day-to-day wardrobe. I love the three dimensional lace. So much so that this is the second caftan I own in this textile. The downside is that it does tend to get caught on items and as such, I have to exercise caution when wearing it. I have not yet snag the lace yet, knock on wood.
La Vie Style House caftans come in one size fits all. Unlike Brandi Melville, though, I believe that these caftans actually fit anyone who dresses from the standard size range, as well as many who wear the smaller end of extended size range. On me, the intended length is more midi than the intended maxi. On that note, I cannot wear the mini version because the length is simply too abbreviated.
La Vie Style House does make mini length caftans, alas they have always been too short on my tall frame. As such, I have only ordered maxi-length, really mid-length caftans. After wearing this caftan across a variety of occasions over the past three years, my six year old gave me the idea to turn it into an above-the-knee hemline; he asked if he could help upcycle some of my clothes. The 3d fabric of this dress made it easy to cut off. I initially took off three inches of fabric and then another three inches of fabric. It was then that I loved the length of the caftan.
I wore the newly shorn caftan to a book release party, Second Thursday at the Crane Building, and dinner at Wm. Mulherin and Son’s. I think I might chop the pink version as well.
