Fit-my e-ring again-ness 11

Between shin splints in my right leg and a sore left knee, I tried to give myself grace when it came to working out this past week. I managed to get on the treadmill twice. I had the opportunity for a third run, but opted to use the elliptical as the treadmill impact was too much. For the other two weekdays, I used my Bala Beam and heavy Bala Beam.

I worked my way up to holding a plank for three minutes and thirty seconds. Did you know that three minutes, thirty-five seconds is the maximum time one can hold a plank for maximum credit on the Air Force physical training test? The more you know.

Getting through the plank is easiest while the Pamper Pirate is down for his nap. I keep the lights off, draw the curtains, put on a podcast, and roll up a blanket to cushion my elbows. I try to keep my face relaxed and take big audible breaths. I still have a minute, thirty seconds to work up to within the next week. A five minute plank… Me from a month ago would never deign to believe that I could even make it even halfway.

Let’s meet back here next week, same time same place, for a check in?

  1. Oh boy, shin splints. I remember when I started running and wasn’t used to it, and did it follow me for a long time. Anyway, 3:30 planks is amazing. Wishing you all the best on your road to 5:00!
