Spotted: Shorts suits all over social media for the past summer. Though I bought the Banana Republic Suede Utility Blazer and Explorer Shorts last winter, I never really knew when I would have the opportunity to wear it. Spring poses too much of a risk with rain which would result in sartorial disaster and heartbreak. Summer would be too hot which would result in suede diaper effect.
Cut to the weeks after Labor Day. The suede set is the ultimate in summer-autumn transitional season dressing.

The Banana Republic Suede Utility Blazer is available in tall size range which is what sold me on it. The blazer is cut longer through the body, but I would still need the length through the arms. Later on in the season I would wear it with a pair of off-white crop corduroy pants and a black crewneck sweater.

The Banana Republic Heritage Suede Explorer Shorts are not available in a tall size range; however the standard size features a five inch inseam. This is relatively modest and the length that I would typically select. Before it gets too cold outside, I would pair this with my husband’s green utility coat.
I am wearing a size 12 in the suede shorts. That said, the shorts fit at the true waist and I should have considered going up to a size 14.
