No sooner than making up my training runs from the last time I was sick, I awoke Monday sore from Barry’s Saturday morning workout and with a head cold. Even though I was just sick during the 2022 to 2023 holiday, I got sick again. Blame it on the stress with moving and bearing responsibility for planning all logistics sans flights: flight upgrades for the family, packing in a way that we did not exceed baggage weight threshold, arranging the ride from Dulles into the district to accommodate the family and the luggage, booking the D.C. hotel [free thanks to points], making dinner reservations for Friday and Saturday, planning family and friend meet ups to max our two days in D.C., scheduling a haircut for the Pamper Pirate, booking corporate housing for our first few months in Philadelphia, selecting and virtually meeting our realtor, setting up visits with potential day care facilities and pre-k for the Pamper Pirate. The same thing happened to me after our wedding. I was hit with a head cold the moment I stood up when our flight for our honeymoon landed in Madrid.
I managed to make it through my short run this week. I opted to give myself grace for the other two and make up the four miler and seven miler in the upcoming week or weeks. I will adapt the former as a recovery run. I will attempt to finish the seven miler in an hour and fifteen and because it is cold in Philadelphia, both on the treadmill. Luckily our corporate rental has a very serviceable fitness room, exceeding most cardio rooms and rivaling most gyms I have been to. The treadmills are set up in front of the windows and you cannot beat park views. Perfect for people watching.
