In / My Purse

The contents of my purse have recently been overstuffed – and as a mom of a three year old, at times random and hilarious – and I am going to document what I am carrying and the bag in which I am carrying it on a monthly basis.

the Chanel Caviar Leather Classic Large Double Flap Bag

After nearly two years of consideration, I purchased my first Chanel bag at the CityCenter DC outpost. I chose the Maxi Classic Double Flap Bag in black caviar leather, predicated on the durability of the leather and the timeless design. As with all my purchases of luxury goods, I calculated how many hours of work were required in order to pay for the bag. This put the price into perspective for me. A reality check? Perhaps.

Admittedly, I wish I had bought the bag in the roomier Maxi option rather than the Large. The upside is that the Large size keeps me from stowing everything in the purse and forcing me to edit only what I truly need for the day. On the other hand, if I ever opt to purchase another Chanel bag, I am only considering the Large and Maxi sizes, with preference to the latter.

what is in my bag?

  • My set of earphones go everywhere with me, but especially when I have plans around the city that require many a step.
  • I don’t use them every day or even every week, but I am trying to get better about not forgetting my keys.
  • I waxed on about the Hobo International Lauren wallet because it keeps everything from multiple currencies, to membership and metro cards, to receipts organized.
  • I never carry the Louis Vuitton Pochette Accessories as a clutch or a solo bag. Rather, the iconic gateway drug to other Louis Vuitton and designer handbags in general, contains all of the small items that need to get transferred from bag to bag. Right now I have a set of passports, checkbook, pens, and lip balm in my Louis Vuiltton Accessory Pochette. While in the past six months of so, the style has been edited to add a gold chain, the old version is copiously available via the secondary market in a variety of fabrics and colorways.
