I don’t even care that the embellishments are falling off, albeit slowly.
the calypso st. barths brephi caftan
I bought this caftan during the spring of 2027. Since then, I have worn it numerous times during the summer and resort vacations. I don’t care if this is the fifth time wearing this caftan on the blog. It simply never gets old and the compliments never cease when I wear it.
Aside from the phenomenal embellishments, which while they are falling off are doing so at a slow pace, my favorite part of this caftan is the maxi length. Most caftans, and more broadly dresses, that are marketed as maxi length end up being more of a midi length on me. (Reference those of the La Vie Style House variety falling to upper calf length.) The Calypso St. Barry’s Brephi Caftan truly fits me as a maxi length, one of the only items in my closet to do so.
This caftan does not come with a slip or a liner. If worn over a swimsuit, the additional layer is unnecessary. However, as I am writing thus, I realize I have never worn this to the pool or the beach, despite wearing it on several vacations and consequently, have always worn it with a slip. I used to wear it with this fantastic J.Crew black silk slip, that is until my fat pregnant ass ripped it. Since then, I have been leaning on this stretchy muted purple Free People slip.
I am wearing this caftan in a size small. While it has long since sold out from Calypso St. Barths and the company has since filed for bankruptcy and relaunched, I found the sole Brephi Caftan available on the secondary market. Act now, because it is not going to last long.
