This dress, and more broadly this outfit is not groundbreaking, but I still like it because it is so foolproof. On this day, I had scheduled an early morning parental interview as part of the admission process for a school we are applying for on behalf my oldest before before spending the rest of the day in the office.
the gap organic cotton oxford mini shirtdress
At 22 dollars on promotion at Gap, this machine washable natural fiber shirtdress, available in tall size range, was a safe bet. It comes with a self belt in the same fabric, which I swapped out for a grey suede belt.
Something I do not love about shirtdresses in general, including this one, and I even mentioned this to my husband: the belt loops are never adjusted for a tall size range. Meaning even on this tall size range dress, the belt loops are in such a place that a belt would create an empire waist. As such, I snipped off the belt loops and wore the belt several inches lower, closer to my natural waist.
I am wearing this dress in a size extra large tall. It is too big for me, but I like being able to throw clothes in the dryer, worry-free regarding shrinking. I consider the Gap Organic Cotton Oxford Mini Shirtdress to be such a value that I bought it in the second colorway, a light blue.
the rayban aviator sunglasses
I have owned the same Rayban Aviator sunglasses since procuring a pair circa 2010. It is actually insane to me that I never lost them during my freewheeling, latter half of my twenties or even throughout my much more demure thirties.
I lean on aviators whenever I don’t have time to think about sunglasses as part of my larger outfit concept. And you know I love a statement frame.
