I bought all of the funnel neck knits for fall, eff ya!
the gap modern rib funnel neck t shirt
There is something about the funnel neckline that triggers late 1990s nostalgia. It was something I remember seeing in magazines and on screen. Not teen magazines or youth-oriented television or cinematic productions. Rather, I feel like I saw this neckline in higher end, then-aspirational publications like Cosmopolitan (lol) and later Lucky (my parents’ house somehow found itself on the mailing list for the summer 2001 premiere issue).
cue me heading over to eBay looking for the premiere issue of Lucky, to no…luck
because vintage magazines are so hot right now
I am a sucker for nostalgia and trying nostalgia-oriented clothing now that I am old enough to have agency over what I wear and budget enough to buy whatever the eff I want.
I bought two colorways each in the long sleeve modern rib option (photographed below) and the sleeveless flat knit option, all in extra large tall. It was necessary especially in the sleeveless flat knit, as it is especially clingy.
the j.crew demi boot crop denim
I have this style of denim in at least four colorways: this and another blue wash, lavender, and white. The stretch in this particular pair makes it forgiving and the only one that fits me right now, in a size 32 long.
