Holiday shopping is done, for both the boys, my husband, and the lewks I plan to wear throughout the season.
Clearly, all I want to wear this winter is green. Green velvet, green taffeta, green tulle. I ordered the dress in a fourteen tall, both skirts in twelve tall, the pants in a fourteen tall, the blazer in a fourteen tall, and the belt in a large. Listen, I am clearly larger that I have been in holidays past and as such, I needed to order some stuff that was not going to send me into a size-based shame spiral. Everything fit as expected; there were no size outliers that anyone should know about other than the fact that the skirts had full or partial elasticized waist, so the style is more forgiving.

We recently watched a few vintage Peanuts holiday specials as a family. Bebe Deux has officially been inducted into the Peanuts fan club, and as such the boys are getting some Peanuts x Gap gear. The Halloween shirts, I bought in larger sizes to stash away for next fall, while they will be matching in sweatsuits and long sleeve tees for the rest of this winter. Tres cozy!

Lastly, I needed to replace a pair of black holiday heels adorned with rhinestones that I bought from J.Crew Factory circa 2016. The heels are so ripped up that whenever I wear them, I am standing on the literal nails on either heel. I knew the replacement needed to be a low block heel to avoid ripping up the heel cap. I went there and I splurged on a pair of Roger Vivier shoes, but applied a welcome code to defray the cost. I ordered these in a size 41.5 IT.
However, they had to go back. I only allowed the splurge under the condition that I absolutely love them when they are on my feet. They fit but they were not that comfortable. Allow me to explain… Either shoe caused discomfort to the top of my foot, near the first joint of each of my big toes. I do not think a bigger size would make it more comfortable; this was just a flaw of the design and satin does not stretch in the way that leather would.
I ordered a pair of Manolo Blahnik flats that had previously caught my eye in the season. I thought I had moved on from them, but they got a second look when they were majorly marked down. I ordered these in a size 42 IT.
And I kept them. I typically am a solid size eleven shoe, especially since having my second son. Past experience taught me that I needed a larger size, which is how I landed on the equivalent to a US twelve.
Give me a break, my feet have to carry all six foot, two inches of me!
