Lilly Pulitzer really threw a wrench out there this week when news broke that there was an off-typical schedule sale scheduled for the end of June.
There is typically two sales a year, the semi annual sale. Women used to crash out over the semi annual sale. Dresses disappeared from shopping bags, Elsa blouses were unceremoniously ripped from wardrobes. It was the worst of times.
These days, the brand and consequently, the sale is not as big of a deal as it once was about a decade ago; however Lilly Pulitzer is going through what I would call a renaissance right now. Along with the new logo, the brand is offering Men’s Stuff and a Reserve Collection. Gone is the total deluge of styles made of stretchy polyblend silky-but-not-silk, though make no mistake, that genre are still stocked. Rather than the surplus of this fabric, the brand has returned to beautiful cotton poplin with a hint of stretch. (I’ll allow it for comfort’s sake.)
