Life Rose On

Over the past year, I have become obsessed with footwear of the Roger Vivier variety. While I did not feel ready to commit to the black satin Belle style, I managed to find one pair of neon pink patent leather and mesh on sale on The Outnet and another pair of super mod color block slingbacks on Net-a-Porter, neither of while I experienced buyer’s remorse.

While the Roger Vivier Belle is turning sixty years old and yet, is as relevant as ever, the La Rose collection from the brand is what most recently caught my eye. Acid bright contrasting color combinations are a favorite of mine, ergo it should come as no surprise that I am nuts for the pink and red and orange and pink flats, and the purple and red heels. Peep the ever-so-subtle thorn detail at the top of both the flat and heeled shoes and the thorn detail at the high heel.

On the shoes, the rose detail looks as though it is constructed by a single strip of fabric, either satin or grosgrain, looped and twisted many times. The minaudière features fabric draped, layered in a spiral, and fastened on a hard case. Buckle up, because if you thought the shoes were expensive….

Realistically, I do not think I will end up buying a pair. However, I would get the most mileage, literally, out of either the orange and pink flat or the pink and red flat. Can you imagine just logging miles and miles in these all over Center City, dodging dirty puddles, between school drop off, the office, a power lunch, daycare pick up on any given workday? Just the shoe that any woman can wear while doing it all, for the spring at least.
