Just What the Doctor Ordered IV

In the latest brand collaboration with the orthopedic footwear brand, Dr Scholl’s has teamed up with purveyor of jelly shoes, Melissa.

the dr. scholl’s x melissa collaboration

I discovered these while I was writing my most recent sale post. Immediately they reminded me of a pair of Dr. Scholl’s that I spotted in a 1998 issue of Seventeen (or maybe it was just ‘ Teen) magazine. As I lamented in this blog post, I was obsessed with the pair of comfort shoes in an iteration emblematic of 1990s youth.

The 90s are back, duh, as if we have not noticed jelly shoes reentering the style conversation. Melissa is a brand that exclusively produces jelly shoes in modern shapes. In the case of this collaboration, in a fisherman style, the Possession Pescura, and the iconic Dr. Scholl’s shape, the Pescura Heel. My thirteen year old self could not be more thrilled with the prospect of a pair of jelly Dr. Scholl’s sandals!

But wait! Size elevens are not available across this colloboration.

And we know from experience that I am a size eleven in Dr. Scholl’s shoes.

This collaboration is only available in sizes five through ten. Quelle horror! And before you suggest I try the size tens, I already did, from the Free People collection. Thank goodness I had not ordered the size tens via a final sale situation. With that purchase experience, I cemented my status as a size eleven with my post-duo pregnancy feet.

It is a shame that they are not available because the colorways are phenomenal: translucent versions in clear, teal, plum, amber, and opaque versions in red and black. Each of the six colorways are available in both the fisherman style and the signature style.

The shoes are stocked across a variety of retailers. Not only are they sold via Dr. Scholl’s and Melissa, but also Nordstrom, Bloomingdales, Shopbop, Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, and Wolf & Badger. At a 130 dollar price point, both styles are relatively accessible.

Meanwhile the Khrisjoy stock are not only both available in my size, but also marked down.
