Tall Tuesday: Tartan

We are in full swing of the tartan rollout. The retail calendar was a bit all over the place these past two fiscal quarters. Now that we are past Black Friday, I think it is appropriate to break out your tartan finest. Don’t have some. Get some. Below are my picks for tall tartan.

available in tall

Obviously, tall range sized items have to be included in this roundup. I am a longtime fan of the J.Crew tartan shirts ever since they were released in the tall size range. Tragically, this year the retailer merely offered a single version in tall. I will say that it is a timeless shirt; J.Crew has offered it every year since 2015 and that speaks to its timelessness. Buy this shirt and you will wear it for years to come, trust.

The pickings for J.Crew tartan skirts and pajamas in tall sizing are slim as well; a single skirt and no pajamas are available in the tall size range. C’est tragique as I happen to love my skirt and pajamas, both of which I scored from the retailer from the holiday 2016 rollout.

standard, tall-friendly styles

The tall gal does not have to rule out standard range tartan styles. I speak from experience as I have a few standard size skirts with modest hemlines that I do not find too short. I found several midi skirts and ruanas that are not length size-specific and that I suspect would flatter a tall frame.

accessories + shoes

Mixing tartan as the accessory or shoes is the perfect way to get festive with your bad self without having to commit to a bold tartan look. Tartan is typically worn only through the holiday season and anyone who wears it prior to Black Friday is really jumping the gun. (Remember when I lost it when I spotted a blogger wearing in an Instagram post the day after Labor Day?) The upside to investing in accessories or shoes is that you can wear them over and over again throughout the holiday season with a plethora of looks, allowing you to get a lot of mileage out of a piece.
