I was thrilled upon hearing that August Morgan was re-launching apparel and it could not come at a better time. Philadelphia weather is becoming hotter by the moment and my summer wardrobe is still in storage. Lucky for me, Kate at August Morgan kindly sent one of the new dresses my way to style and review; the Eleanor Dress was a welcome addition to my wardrobe.
I have had great experiences wearing August Morgan in the past. Perhaps you recall the berry caftan or the striped tunic? (The line offers an updated take on the former.)

the august morgan eleanor dress
I wore this dress out to family brunch at The Love in Philadelphia. Family brunch also translates to toddler/little boy wrangling these days. The Pamper Pirate is a public restroom enthusiast. (If only he got as excited to use the potty at home.) The bottom line is that this precludes me from wearing shorter hemlines, at least on the regular.
The length on this dress is ideal for the taller gal. Just a few inches above the knee, it allows for easy ventilation (ladies, you get what I am talking about?) without risking overexposure while chasing around a three year old. For those taller than me (checking in at six foot two inches tall), there is an one and a half inch hem that can potentially to be let out.
The fabric is a rayon / nylon / spandex knit. It is matte but still stretchy. Ponte describes it well.
This dress has on seam pockets. Rejoice for all the moms who can now opt out of carrying their kids’ crayons in their handbags! (True Life: I found four crayons floating around the bottom of my LV Sac Plat this morning.) Color the inner lining of the pockets of the Eleanor Dress if you must and flip out the pockets before dropping at the cleaners (it is dry clean only) and preserve the inner lining of your handbags.
While I love pockets, my favorite design detail are the bow buttons. While I am not exactly a bow enthusiast, I appreciate the motif every now and again. When I first saw the product image for the Eleanor Dress, I thought the bows read as crystal encrusted. However, they are gold toned, no crystals, which I love because it allows me to wear the dress with gold toned jewelry and gold toned hardware accessories.
The only pain point for me with the dress is the armholes. They are tighter than what I am used to. Blame it on all of the bicep curls and tricep dips at Barry’s classes and a three year old who still loves to be carried from time to time. I’m not ashamed to say it: my arms are swole.
I am wearing a size large in the Eleanor Dress dress.
