Not Groundbreaking II

Don’t give me shit for how wrinkled this dress is. I actually think there is something chic about clothes being a bit rumpled, the outfit being a touch undone, and hair being out of place.

Or maybe I’m just trying to co-opt some sort French je nais se quois-ness. Oui, that’s it.

the dr. scholl’s x free people sandal

I cannot get enough of the Dr. Scholl’s x Free People sandals. After a false start with the wrong size, I wore the eyelet version to the office at the tail end of summer. I was shocked with how comfortable they were. My maiden voyage in them began at the office, traveled down and back Walnut Street for lunch, running errands immediately after wrapping work, attending a Philadelphia Ballet Young Frienda event, and finally traversing about fifteen blocks home. My feet were ache-y but only because I trekked all over the city. No blisters, though!

After coming to the conclusion that the eyelet version were going to have an increasingly decreasing price per wear, I scored the Free People denim version half off as well. I can report that the user experience for this colorway is consistent with that of the eyelet, flawless.

the kate spade new york x urban outfitters exclusive canvas shoulder bag

We have got to talk about the Kate Spade New York x Urban Outfitters collaboration. I stumbled upon it rather late, at least a month after its release. The prints – each of which were original to the 90s-born handbag brand – stoke such a mad sense of nostalgia that I had to make one mine.

And that I did. The stripe in particular calls upon a similar, bolder colorway that several of my high school classmates tried to fake with Canal Street knockoffs circa 2000. I wasn’t about to fake anything, even back then with my own handbag budget was much more modest. If I was carrying an Urban Outfitters-sourced handbag, at least I knew that it was real to the brand.

Whether it be Urban Outfitters or Kate Spade, there is nothing like the real thing.
