Circa spring 2008, I was looking for a dress to wear to graduation. Undergraduate, not high school. I hit every independent boutique on the Gulf Coast.
What I wanted was a structured cotton poplin sundress, preferably with a pattern. What I found was not that, but a black and white polka dotted ruched bodice spaghetti strap sundress from the Ann Taylor outlet. It wasn’t anything like I wanted, but it did the job in the moment and as it turned out throughout the subsequent summer, my first spent in Washington DC. I think that was my only summer wearing it, though I held onto / hoarded it until unloading it on eBay.

I forgot about that 2008 dress until just recently when I uncovered a deluge of black and white polka dot dress styles in the media and on the market.
option 1: The first option is less than one hundred dollars. The retailer is notorious for a liberal return policy. There is a hidden back-zip closure and a front hook-and-eye closure. The fabric is rayon and the care is dry clean only. It is available in letter sizes: S, M, L, you know the drill.
option 2: The more luxe option is six hundred more than the first. Like the first, there is a hidden back-zip closure. The fabric is cotton and the care is dry clean only. It is available in sizes zero through twelve. Best of all, it has pockets. Perfect for everyone’s dad issues!
