On Kate Spade

Not to beat a dead horse, but there is just something about the classic Kate Spade handbag styles that I cannot move past. Recently, I was in my closet considering two black handbag options: the quilted double flap caviar leather maxi Chanel and a nylon Kate Spade shoulder bag, and I opted for the latter. I think there is something to that!

I recently listened to the Elyce Aron’s memoir about starting and running Kate Spade, with the late Katy Brosnahan, her husband Andy, and fourth partner Pamela. It made me nostalgic for the nineties to the very early aughts. And with that, I started browsing only for the iconic shapes in the Kate Spade nylon, and I landed on a shoulder bag.

I asked for this little nylon Kate Spade bag for my most recent birthday. I love how lightweight it is, as well as the smaller size which ensures that I am only carrying the essentials. It is the second Kate Spade bag I have in this shape; the first was the striped number from the Urban Outfitters collaboration. As opposed to the big Chanel, which I love and typically wear throughout the winter, there is minimal hardware on the handbag.

There is something to be said for the items that trigger nostalgia that make you want to revisit staples that your wallet may have felt that you have outgrown. You’re next, Gap jeans.
