I wanted a Kate Spade wicker bag for the longest time. This one went on sale and I bought it!

It feels like a throwback to the late nineties / early augts. Very Charlotte York, before the MacDougal and before the Goldenblatt. Because let’s be real, these days our favorite upper east side denizen is carrying her belongings in a Valentino.

Perhaps Carrie should not have had a stick up her butt about being Tampax central. Furthermore, borrowing a tampon from a friend one time does not Tampax central make!

Just another example of Carrie being the worst.

what is in my bag

This purse is smaller than my day-to-day options. Consequently, I have to pare down items. Switching from another purse to the Kate Spade Wicker Sam purse gives me the opportunity to clean the mess that I have a accumulated in the weeks since switching handbags. Receipts, snacks, little pairs of sunglasses, toys: they all get cleaned out.

• My Hobo Lauren wallet is a nonnegotiable. It keeps me organized, so much so that I pick out a new colorway every few years. This platinum version is my fourth, after red, blue, and gunmetal.
• I carry my Louis Vuitton Agenda with me whenever space allows. I keep notes from my son’s French class in it, like a chic little notebook. Ooh la la!
• I usually wear my sunglasses on my face out of the house and keep them on a croakie, but I like to keep a case on me in order to pare down on items (ie the chaos) on my person.
• My earphones go with me everywhere. I like to take advantage of any solo time, usually on foot throughout the city, to listen to pop culture podcasts that might not be appropriate for little ears.
• An Earth’s Best Elmo-branded sweet potato granola bar for when my oldest gets a hankering for a snack, it is necessary.
• Keys, I think those are self-explanatory.
• My husband grabbed this tube of Fresh lip balm for me on his way downstairs recently and I was reminded of how much I love the product.
