DVF x Target Lookbook

Diane von Furstenburg is celebrating fifty years of the anniversary of the wrap dress by teaming up with Target for a collaboration. The collection will consist of over two hundred pieces, ranging from athleisure to made-to-order furniture. While the collection will be available online, if history serves as a reminder, the website will likely crash. Luckily, Target provided a comprehensive list of brick-and-mortar locations that will be carrying the Diane von Furstenburg collection; not every location will have it.

The Diane von Furstenburg x Target lookbook was released three days ago and it is one hundred percent worth getting stoked over. I am certain that like the Target collaborations with Missoni, Lilly Pulitzer, and Loveshackfancy, the Diane von Furstenburg collection will quickly sell out. DvF is just too big of a name for this collection to just be a blip on the radar a la Marimekko. Strategize how to shop the collection now…

before the sale…

  • Locate your local brick and mortar locations. Again, not all locations will have the collection. Check out this page and find the nearest Target.
  • Memorize the Saturday hours for your brick and mortar Target.
  • Prior to the live date, take the time to register on the website. Should you already have log in information for the site, now is the time to reacquaint yourself with your sign in information and do so on all of your electronic devices: laptop, family computer, smart phone, tablet. Whether you register or just confirm your log in information, make note of it. Seriously, write it down.
  • Download the Target app ahead of time and take time to familiarize yourself with it and the Target mobile site layouts now. Consider the fact that the app may be deactivated (as the Lilly one is during APS) during the launch.
  • Once you are signed in, make sure that both your payment method (ahem, expiration date!) and address is up to date.
  • Make a shopping list of your target items and sizes.
  • Clear your calendar for midnight next Friday the 22nd / Saturday the 23rd.

the night that the collaboration goes live…

  • Set your alarm clock for 2:45 am eastern and brew yourself some coffee.
  • The collaboration goes live at 3 am eastern.

you’re in…

  • Shop your aforementioned priorities.
  • Having an item in your virtual shopping bag does not reserve it. Check out often because items may be unceremoniously ripped from your bag.
  • After check out, jump back in line on the electronic device.
  • Monitor your other devices for access.
  • repeat

the morning after…

  • Keep track of what you were not able to purchase online. Those are your updated priorities.
  • Be at your local Target prior to opening. Circa 2015 for Lilly Pulitzer, I was in my local Target parking lot by 6 am, though it was not until I saw another shopper pull into the parking lot when I jumped out of my car and actually started a line because if you are not first, you are last.

top fifteen favorite items from the diane von furstenburg x target collaboration

Out of the assortment of the hundreds of items and to be fair, the same style in different prints seems to count for as many colorway options and / or dimensions when it comes to bed headboards, I edited the selection down my favorite items. I am especially excited for the home goods, which don’t scream DVF in the manner that the Missoni collaboration screamed Missoni or even to a lesser extent, the Marimekko collaboration screamed Marimekko. Even the items that feature the archival prints are subtle identifiers of the brand.

After the jump, all of the times I wore Diane von Furstenburg on the blog, including links back to the original blog post; just click on any given image for a throwback sure to amuse.
