One of the first blog posts I ever wrote was a J.Crew Shoe Review. I had just replaced several pairs of heels sourced exclusively from J.Crew summer / fall 2016 and with that I wrote about each pair. Spoiler alert: I wish I had kept the one pair I returned. The pink and orange loafers…they just don’t offer those colors anymore!
The bejeweled Esme pump was a style that I just had to have. Between the low heel and the jewel detail, they remind me of a very 1980s style in a The Preppy Handbook kind of way. The fabric was cited as suede, but it felt more like a threadbare velvet. Regardless, the price was low enough that it did not feel particularly high risk.
These shoes ended up being quite the smart buy! Eight years after making the order and writing about the Esme Jeweled Heel, I am just now retiring them and only because I could find a suitable replacement.
I wanted a pair of low heel, possibly embellished, black pumps for holiday. Only after I returned a pair of Roger Vivier black embellished holiday heels (they looked like boats on my feet), did I seriously consider buying the new version of the J.Crew Factory Esme embellished heel which I initially spotted in the local brick-and-mortar location. I actually ended up hunting down a pair of 10.5 online and having them overnight shipped to me after trying on the ten in store and finding it to be too small for my postpartum feet.
They were shoes well worth the rush shipment fee. I have only worn them a handful of times since they arrived, but I see another eight years of J.Crew Factory Esme heel in my future.
