Toteme Picks

I love Toteme despite how expensive the Stockholm-based brand is. Granted, I only own two pieces but as it fits the tall frame swimmingly. Must be the Nordic-esque heritage. (I see you Elon Kling.)

The quality is so fab that the price per wear has steadily decreased over the past going-on three years. Yes, I still have and wear the striped sweater and scarf jacket that seemingly every retailer and brand ripped off over the past few years. They were both key pieces in my back-to-the-states 2023 capsule wardrobe experiment.

Bloggers frequently ponder “Is <brand> worth the price?” in an effort to prove that it is worth it, drive sales, and drive commission. The brand changes by the year according to what is in favor; recently Row-dent brands have been trending. By that I mean, The Row, and imitators, albeit still expensive as fuck, Khaite and Toteme. I stand by the notion that bloggers and influencers and content creators should never endeavor to answer that question because frequently, they are getting the stuff they wear for free, I suspect by stockist credit.

When asking if some high price item is worth is, that question is relative to your income. Does the consumer have plans to immediately pay off the credit card used to pay for the item prior to the next billing cycle? Or is the consumer paying cash? All that is to say, is, shop responsibly.

I am posting responsibly. By that I mean, posting items that are going to transcend time. (Hello army khaki trench jacket.) I try to avoid both items that are emblematic of a particular period, as well as synthetic materials, including viscous, which every brand and retailer seems to be hard up for these days. Just hold out for cashmere, wool, linen and cotton, amirite?
