Choose your fighter: smocked puff sleeve trellis print dress edition.
$199 versus $45
Upon spying the less expensive version of this dress, I knew it was based upon one from the more expensive label. I would not say that the more expensive label invented smocking because hello, I grew up in the south where putting your kid in a smocked outfit was de rigeur, but said label reintroduced it to adult audiences. Hey! We are dressing like our toddler selves again!
The cheaper dress is regularly priced at $44.99. The more expensive dress is regularly priced at $198, though it has been marked down to $99 (frequently with a coupon code for an additional price off) through the omnichannel and $78 through a stockist.
cotton vs. cotton, etc
Both of the dresses have a smocked bodice with puffed sleeves and a mini hemline. They are also both cotton. The origin of the more expensive one is China, and the origin of the cheaper one is…unclear. (Red flag.) However, the cheaper one is more accessible not only in terms of price but also as far as sizing goes; the regular length is available in extra small through 4X and both the petite and tall lengths are available in available in extra small through extra extra large.
Finally, while the more expensive version has regular rollouts in seasonal prints and colorways, the less expensive version is available in two additional prints and solid black.
